Hydrilla verticillata

Hydrilla (Hydrilla verticillata) is an invasive plant of freshwater habitats. It is a native of Africa and was first detected in Florida in the 1950's.

Growing quickly with low light requirements, the hydrilla rapidly forms a freshwater monoculture.
