Norway maple

Acer platanoides

Norway maple (Acer platanoides) is an invasive plant of Europe and Southwest Asia. It was first detected in Indiana in 2002.

This tree releases chemicals to discourage undergrowth, which tends to create bare, muddy run-off conditions immediately beneath the tree. It has also been shown to inhibit nearby growth of native saplings.

For more information about this plant pest, see the CABI data sheet.
