Peanut root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne arenaria) is a nematode pest. It was first detected in South Carolina in 1985.
The most important group are the root-knot nematodes, which are devastating pathogens of food and fiber crops. M. arenaria is considered one of the "major" Meloidogyne species due to its worldwide economic importance. It is commonly encountered in warmer regions and is seldom found in areas where average monthly temperatures approach freezing.
