Wireworm (Agriotes ustulatus) is an insect pest. It is a native of Europe.
Adult wireworms, commonly called 'click beetles', are slender, black beetles, 8-12 mm long.The larvae of this beetle prefers grasses, both annual and perennial. It also attacks sunflower, carrot, potato, sugar beet, corn, lettuce, canola and seed onions. Small fruits, such as strawberries, are also attacked. The larvae feed on germinating seeds or young seedlings. They feed on the stem between the seed and the soil line.
