Rhynchophorus palmarum

South American palm weevil (Rhynchophorus palmarum) is an insect pest. It was first detected in California in 2011.

This weevil has a probable role of insect vectors in the dissemination of the nematode, Radinaphelenchus cocophilus, the causative organism of red ring disease of coconuts.
