Mile-a-minute weed

Persicaria perfoliata

Mile-a-minute weed (Persicaria perfoliata) is an invasive plant of open and disturbed areas. It is a native of Asia and was first detected in New York in 1930's.

Mile-a-minute is now established in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington DC. It rapidly covers existing vegetation and can weaken and kill native plants in natural areas.
