Red ring nematode (Bursaphelenchus cocophilus) is a nematode pest of palm trees. It is a native of Central and South America.
This nematode causes a disease in coconut palms. Symptoms of infestation include chlorosis, beginning in the oldest leaves, and a distinct red/brownish ring in the trunk of the tree. The nematode is vectored by the palm weevil.
