Melon fly (Bactrocera cucurbitae) is an insect pest. It was first detected in Hawaii in 1895.
In India the melon fly is considered the most destructive pest of melons and related crops, and it has greatly reduced the production of melons, cucumbers, and tomatoes in Hawaii. It has not yet been found in the continental US.
