Lesser spruce shoot beetle (Hylurgops palliatus) is an insect pest of conifers. It is a native of Europe and was first detected in Pennsylvania in 2001.
Trees stressed from a variety of conditions seem to be prone to attacks. This is just one of many forest pests that are moved to un-infested forests by humans moving firewood. Help protect our forests: don't move firewood!
For more information about this plant pest, see the CABI data sheet.
