Mediterranean pine engraver (Orthotomicus erosus) is an insect pest of Pine, Spruce Fir and Cedar. It is a native of Asia and Europe and was first detected in California in 2004.
This pest poses a large risk to U.S. plant health. International commerce provides recognized avenues of introduction. This is just one of many forest pests that are moved to un-infested forests by humans moving firewood. Help protect our forests: don't move firewood!
For more information about this plant pest, see the CAPS data sheet and the CABI data sheet.
