Hylurgus ligniperda

Redhaired pine bark beetle (Hylurgus ligniperda) is an insect pest of pine trees. It is a native of Europe and was first detected in New York in 1994.

This pest poses a large risk to U.S. plant health. International commerce provides recognized avenues of introduction. This is just one of many forest pests that are moved to un-infested forests by humans moving firewood. Help protect our forests: don't move firewood!
