Black fir sawyer (Monochamus urussovii) is an insect pest of conifer trees. It is a native of Eastern Europe and Asia and was first detected in Mississippi in 2022.
This pest breeds in weakened or damaged trees affected by fire, windthrow, or recent cutting. Larval feeding creates large galleries in the wood. Adult feeding on needles can defoliate trees. This genus vectors pine wilt disease.
