Mango seed weevil (Sternochetus mangiferae) is an insect pest. It is a native of Australasia ,Carribean, and South America and was first detected in Guam in 1997.
Infestation with this beetle grub causes fruit drop and loss of fruit can be as high as 80 percent in some mango species.This pest poses a large risk to U.S. plant health. International commerce provides recognized avenues of introduction.
