Paenibacillus larvae larvae

American foulbrood (Paenibacillus larvae larvae) is a bacterial pathogen of Bees. It was first detected in Vermont in 1986.

This ia a severe highly infectious bacterial disease which affects the honeybee, causing larvae to darken and die. Honey bee larvae infected with American foulbrood become a stringy mass of material that later dries and carries the spores that may infect other larvae.
