Pine processionary moth

Thaumetopoea pityocampa

Pine processionary moth (Thaumetopoea pityocampa) is an insect pest of pine trees.

This pest is active during cooler times of the year. Due to its aggregation behavior it is capable of defoliating large tracts of pines during population surges.
