Pine tortoise scale

Toumeyella parvicornis

Pine tortoise scale (Toumeyella parvicornis) is an insect pest of Jack, Red, Scot and various Pines. It was first detected in Florida in 1984.

Native to eastern United States and eastern Canada, this pest is especially a problem for the Christmas Tree industry. The ladybird beetle is a predator and can help to control infestations.
