Purple loosestrife

Lythrum salicaria

Purple loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria) is an invasive plant of wetlands. It is a native of Europe and was first detected in Northeastern United States in the early 1800's.

Purple loosestrife is widespread in the United States and Canada.
