Citrus brown mite

Eutetranychus orientalis

Citrus brown mite (Eutetranychus orientalis) is a mite of mainly citrus but also a wide range of other crops. It is a native of Asia and Africa and was first detected in Hawaii in 1991.

The Oriental Red Mite is a spider mite which causes damage to citrus plants by piercing plant cells and sucking out their contents. In heavy infestations mites may even kill the host plant.
